Privacy Policy

This policy explains the limited data handled by LaPlace Residents Directory and the choices available to visitors. No account is required, and the site does not host personal records from LaPlace or Louisiana public offices.

Information You Submit

Names, phone numbers, or addresses entered in search forms are sent to the outside provider that supplies results. Our servers do not retain those searches. A message sent to us contains only the details you choose to provide, which are used to answer it.

Data We Gather Automatically

Our hosting keeps ordinary server logs: IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps. We look at this in aggregate to keep the site healthy and to see which pages readers use. Cookies or similar technologies may support basic analytics and, where applicable, advertising measurement.

What We Do With This Data

Logs help operate the service, repair faults, measure traffic, and improve useful pages. We neither sell visitor lists nor create profiles of individual readers.

Links to Other Websites

We link out to county and state records portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. Their privacy policies, not ours, govern what you submit there. That is especially true of the sponsored search results, which a third-party company provides.

Who Might See Your Data

The service providers that host and support the site process server logs for us. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. We disclose data when a valid legal process requires it, and not otherwise.

How We Protect Your Data

The site runs over an encrypted connection and logs are kept only as long as the purposes above need them. There are no accounts here, so no password or profile of yours exists on this site to be exposed.

Users Under 18

The site is meant for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18; if you believe a minor has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your Data Rights

Depending on residence, a visitor may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive personal data. Louisiana Act 502 of 2026, codified at R.S. 51:1780.1 through 51:1780.5 and effective January 1, 2027, creates rights for covered consumers while excluding state agencies and political subdivisions. Because very little is retained here, a request normally involves the contact mailbox and server logs. Use the Contact page. Records held by Louisiana or St. John Parish remain under their custodians' control.

Updates to This Policy

Any change to this policy will be posted on this page. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated version.
